These two Japanese yunomi cups (everyday tea cups) are designed to sit comfortably in the hand without a handle. Traditionally used for sencha, bancha or hōjicha, they work just as well today for coffee, cappuccino, herbal infusions, or even a light broth.
Dimensions: height 10 cm, diameter 8 cm.
The cups have a gently conical shape with a soft, rounded lip and a sturdy unglazed foot ring. The cool celadon-grey glaze shows a pronounced crackle pattern. A clean colour band runs around the middle: one in red, one in green, with a spontaneous cobalt-blue brushstroke motif beneath it that evokes calligraphy. Toward the base, a warm, sandy, more textured section creates a beautiful contrast in materials. Both cups are signed on the underside in underglaze blue.
The set is in perfect condition.
