Akstafa runners are highly regarded for their powerful geometric compositions, vivid vegetable-dyed colors, and distinctive stylized bird motifs, all of which are beautifully represented in this carpet. Traditional Akstafa weavings are known for elongated proportions and highly graphic tribal designs that make them especially desirable as hallway runners.

The soft slate-blue field is decorated with a sequence of large hooked medallions containing intricate geometric motifs, while the spaces between are filled with the famous stylized Akstafa birds, symbolic tribal elements that give these rugs their unmistakable identity. These primitive bird forms, together with small protective motifs scattered throughout the field, create a lively and rhythmic composition full of character.
