Splendidus No. 5:
The Masterpiece:
"The Sovereign Horizon" is the spiritual anchor of the Splendidus collection. Standing at 29 inches, this late 19th-century antique captures a serene architectural landscape, framed by an intricate, hand-carved geometric border that signifies high status and protection.
The Splendidus Finish:
The artist has illuminated the 100-year-old timber with a proprietary "Aura" finish. Electric blues and golden ochres trace the outer labyrinthine border, while the central landscape features a deep, oxidized copper wash that mimics the patina of ancient bronze. The result is a piece that feels "Significant" in weight and "Elusive" in its shifting colors.
Historical Context:
- Period: Late Qing Dynasty / Early Republic (Circa 1890–1915).
- Carving Style: Loukong (Pierced Relief) with traditional architectural motifs.
- Artistic Enhancement: Splendidus Studio, 2026.
Artist's Note:
"I refer to this as the 'Sovereign' piece because it commands the room. Look at the way the blue 'Horizon' border creates a portal into the past . If the original masters had access to these pigments, they would have used them to highlight the incredible depth of their stairs and pagodas. This piece is a collaboration between my hands and a master who lived a century ago."
