Features an open back and was set close to the fire to warm the plates in large households where typically the kitchen was a long way from the dining room . Made of tin and painted in black and gilt with a beautiful floral design, and dates from the early 19th century, around the 1820s to 1830s.
It features distinctive hardware, brass ring pulls on each side for carrying. They are a replacement, as is the handle on the front. This was done sometime in the past and I am not sure exactly when
Paint dulling which is understandable after being set in front of a fire for more than 200 years; some of the artwork has been redone, there's some chipping of the paint but it is in remarkable condition for its age. See less
