A rare "apartment-scale" masterpiece by Milo Baughman for Directional, this Model 28 A dining table is a study in Mid-Century Modern geometric precision. Most famously known for his work with Thayer Coggin, Baughman's designs for Directional in the 1960s represent some of his most sophisticated material explorations.
This specific example features a stunning "Multi-Wood" parquetry top, showcasing alternating bookmatched bands of Rosewood, Walnut, and Ash. The tabletop is supported by a classic ebonized (black) wood Parsons-style base, providing a sharp architectural contrast to the warm, figured wood grains above.
The versatile 38-inch square footprint is ideal for smaller urban spaces but transforms significantly via two 20-inch leaves, expanding the table to a full 78-inch rectangle for large gatherings.
Condition Original vintage condition. This piece has not been refinished and retains its authentic 1960s patina. Expect finish wear, light scuffs, and small nicks consistent with age and residential use. The wood grain remains vibrant and the extension mechanism is structurally solid and glides smoothly.
