Handcrafted antique maple ladderback chair featuring a beautifully shaped double-rail back and an original hand-woven cane seat. The warm honey-toned maple shows rich natural patina developed over more than a century, with subtle darkening at joints and edges consistent with age and use.
The chair is solid and well-balanced, with smooth turned legs and stretchers and a gently contoured seat frame. The cane seat is intact and supportive, presenting very well. Minor scattered paint specks are present and visible upon close inspection, consistent with age and past household use, and do not detract from the chair’s character or integrity.
A wonderful example of late 19th-century American craftsmanship, ideal for farmhouse, primitive, or early American interiors.
