Elegant Louis XVI–style giltwood settee featuring refined neoclassical proportions and finely carved detailing throughout. The hand-carved frame showcases fluted legs, scrolling arms, and a delicately ornamented crest rail, all finished in a warm gilt that highlights the depth and craftsmanship of the carving. The frame retains its original decorative gilt finish and bears a De Mark tag indicating a 22-karat gold leaf application.
The settee is believed to be of Italian origin, produced in the Louis XVI tradition during the late 20th century. Upholstered in a scenic tapestry-style fabric depicting pastoral figures and landscapes, the upholstery shows visible wear consistent with age and would benefit from reupholstery, offering an excellent opportunity to customize the piece with a fabric of choice while preserving the exceptional giltwood frame.
