Vintage Crystal Art Glass Sculpture by Goeran Waerff for Kosta
A glass sculpture by Swedish glass artist Goeran Waerff for Kosta Boda. The sculpture consists of a round, blue and yellow glass disc with a blue spiral pattern inside. The artwork is mounted on a black metal stand. Signed with a Kosta label and engraved signature ‘Kosta W 95925 Waerff’.
Goeran Waerff (1933-2022) is considered an old wise counselor of Swedish artglass design. After his education in Germany, he went to Sweden with his wife and worked first for Pukeberg Glassworks and then for Kosta. Influenced by the Bauhaus school and the creative freedom their clients gave them they received the prestigious Lunning Prize for their work in 1968. After their divorce in 1972, He took up teaching positions in Australia and England. The forest- and water-rich natural impressions of Sweden were reflected in Waerff´s art works for Kosta Boda since 1964.
