It's cast out of thick black iron with bamboo tree embellishments on the sides done in high relief. It has a red lacquered lid with a bronze finial and the handle is exquisitely peened to the pot. The craftsmanship and age of this piece reflect the skill and artistry of Japanese tea and sake-making traditions from the early 19th century, making it a coveted item for enthusiasts of Japanese antiques.
