The installation features intricate strips crafted from pet plastic, a material selected for its exceptional durability and its status as a recyclable resource. These strips are meticulously mounted on a coated steel frame, incorporating mixed media elements that bridge the gap between industrial craftsmanship and fine art. To accommodate different atmospheric and functional needs, isomic is offered in two distinct versions: kinetic version: a dynamic piece that incorporates movement to create shifting reflections. Non-kinetic version: a static sculptural installation focused on fixed geometric beauty. While the original design showcases the vibrant 'bubbles' color palette, alternative colors are available upon request to complement specific interior schemes. Please note that the base price applies to the 200 x 40 cm configuration in the 'bubbles' finish. Any deviations in size, the selection of the kinetic version, or the addition of custom colors will result in a price adjustment. To ensure its authenticity and collectible value, every piece is individually signed and numbered by the artists. Isomic is a site-specific art installation that captures the mesmerizing movement and reflections of flowing water. Balancing between technology and nature, it creates a visual illusion of continuous fluid motion, rhythmic, a fluid shape. Isomic emerged from our material-driven approach. We observed that when a strip is rotated, a twist consistently appears at the same point. By aligning multiple strips, a rhythmic pattern of twists naturall forms. This pattern creates the illusion of water gently flowing up and down—a slow, meditative motion. As the strips move, they catch and reflect light, producing a dynamic interplay of highlights and shadows. The result is an ever-shifting landscape of motion and light—calm, hypnotic, and endlessly captivating. The technique behind this work is the result of a close collaboration with experts in technology and motion control. It combines precision engineering with innovative mechanics, featuring a digitally controlled system of gears, belts, and motors. This intricate mechanism ensures seamless, fluid movement, bringing the installation to life with precision and grace. The upper mounting system is simple and can be attached directly to the ceiling or suspended with thin cables. The control unit for the kinetic installation is placed on the floor, though in the non-moving version, it can also be suspended. Each installation is custom-made to fit its specific space. The kinetic version requires a 220v power supply. In addition to the kinetic version, there is a non-moving edition, created without digital control. The reflective material and precise composition create an almost fluid sense of movement. A striking centerpiece, it can be used to partially divide spaces while adding both tranquility and dynamic energy to the environment. Sustainability plays a vital role in martens & visser’s work.
