This sculpture depicts a 19th-century terracotta acroterion with a thick edge, from Lombardy.
The figure represents a theatrical mask. Symbolically, masks represent the immortality of the soul, deriving their eschatological character from the Dionysian mysteries associated with the world of theater. This iconographic typology was at its peak between the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD.
