Two vintage mid-century trinket trays or catchall dishes with whimsical prints by prolific Italian artist and designer Piero Fornasetti (Milan, 1913 - 1988). Each "vide poche" is made of white porcelain with black and gold details typical of Fornasetti's iconic style, and are stamped with the Fornasetti Milano vintage logo on the reverse of the shallow dish.
1) The Strumenti pattern features a musical instrument theme with a stringed lute, flute, and pipe organ.
2) The nautical theme is a variation on a 16th Century series of engraved etchings by Jans Colleart The Elder (Netherlands, 1560 - 1581) depicting Neptune after Colleart's design for a pendant featuring a sea monster carrying the Roman God of the Sea in chains.
Each trinket tray is 4 1/4"W x 5 1/2"L x 1/2"D
