Introduced in 1964, the 40/4 is the quintessential mid century modern stacking chair, designed to stack 40 chairs high in 4 feet of vertical space.

This set was produced in 1981 and has been expertly refinished. The wooden versions, with their bent ply seats and backs, are more laborious to produce and harder to come by than their metal and upholstered counterparts. All retain their original tags.

The steel frames have a slight bounce to them, making them comfortable for a prolonged sit. The thoughtfully designed waterfall edge at the front of the seat provides additional comfort by preventing the seat from digging into the sitter's legs.

A practical, versatile, and aesthetically pleasing chair that works equally well in an office or dining room. See less
