Late 19th-century French oak bookcase or display cabinet featuring dramatic scale and carved detail. The cabinet is framed by turned barley twist columns and richly carved panels on the two lower doors. The upper section features glass display doors with four adjustable shelves on each side, offering generous and flexible display space.
This cabinet is built in multiple sections for easier transportation and installation. The craftsmanship is evident throughout, from the carved details to the balanced proportions. Scratches, nicks, and signs of use are present throughout, consistent with age, while the cabinet remains solid and stable.
There are no functioning locks. Upper cabinets have a wood knob that moves an interior latch. The lower two doors open using a key as a pull only. Restored, strong, stable, and ready for use, this is a grand and versatile display piece suitable as a bookcase, display cabinet, or even as the back of a bar.
All scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the appeal nor function of this statuesque piece.
