This is a large and heavy cut crystal Edward Latham carafe, jug, bottle, decanter, pitcher, what have you with a … Read more This is a large and heavy cut crystal Edward Latham carafe, jug, bottle, decanter, pitcher, what have you with a silver lid that does not come off with a top and spout plus a large silver metal handle. I have two identical carafes or decanters.

The decanter measures 7.00 inchces across. It is about 8.75 inches tall to where I expect the crystal to end. It is 10.50 inches to the top finial. Weight is a whopping five pounds, thirteen ounces.

The only markings I have been able to find are the ones shown in the top of the lid in picture 8. The decanters were tagged Edward Latham, Late 1800 from England. I don’t know who tagged them and I have not been able to verify that data yet. I have been over the base of the decanter with a lighted magnifying glass and I’ve been unable to find any kind of marking.

The silver has no purity mark, so I would guess it’s just silver metal. I don’t see any other markings, but since I cannnot get the neck piece does not appear to come off, finding a marking might be difficult.

There are no chips, cracks, or other damag eto either decanter. Both have been cleaned but will need to be cleaned again before use since I am cleaning them with glass cleaner. The silver metal is not tarnished. See less
