A magnificent basket vase or emptier, featuring a cherub riding a swan in the center, embellished with floral garlands in light bas-relief on the central handle and along the entire rim. The vase features classic early 20th-century German color schemes in various shades of blue, in the Art Deco style. Made of vitrified majolica by German ceramist Wilhelm Peter August Sus for the Karlsruhe factory, it dates to the early 20th century. Marked under the base with the manufacturer's mark in underglaze blue and numbered. The style of the piece is Art Deco, with its color scheme, the rich floral garlands, the morphology of the cherub, and the iconography of the cherub riding a swan, classic Art Deco. Artistically, the work can be placed within the Vienna Secession movement, which included artists such as Powolny, Hoffmann, Peche, Moser, and others.
