This elegant antique Persian Sarouk Mohajeran runner is a superb example of the finest weaving tradition from the Mohajeran village, located west of Sarouk in central Persia. Woven around 1920, it represents the premium grade of Sarouk production, renowned for its exceptionally lustrous wool, fine knot density, and sophisticated floral artistry. Mohajeran Sarouks are widely regarded as the highest quality within the Sarouk family and were woven for discerning domestic and international markets.
The runner displays the classic elegance for which Mohajeran rugs are celebrated, with gracefully flowing floral motifs arranged in perfect balance along the elongated field. The design is executed with remarkable precision, featuring scrolling vines, finely detailed palmettes, rosettes, and delicate blossoms that create a refined and harmonious composition. The proportions are exceptionally pleasing, making it an ideal hallway or gallery runner.
Its rich vegetable-dyed palette combines warm rose red, deep indigo blue, soft ivory, and subtle accents of sky blue and camel, producing the glowing, luminous appearance that distinguishes the finest Mohajeran carpets. The wool possesses the silky sheen and resilient texture that collectors prize, while the dense construction ensures outstanding durability. Fine Mohajeran Sarouks are known for their exceptionally high-quality wool, dense weave, and enduring structural integrity.
Preserved in perfect condition, with a full, even pile and crisp drawing throughout, this runner is both an outstanding decorative furnishing and a highly collectible example of early 20th-century Persian craftsmanship. Its combination of fine quality, excellent state of preservation, and desirable size makes it especially appealing to collectors and interior designers alike.
