Charles Brown (1922–1999) was one of the most influential figures in post-war blues and jazz, celebrated for his refined piano style and smooth, intimate vocals. Rising to prominence in the 1940s with Johnny Moore’s Three Blazers, Brown became a defining voice of West Coast blues with classic recordings such as Drifting Blues, Trouble Blues, and the enduring holiday standard Please Come Home for Christmas. Over the course of his career, he received numerous honors, including induction into the Blues Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as well as a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Mariana Cook (born 1955) is a highly regarded American photographer best known for her masterful black-and-white portraiture. She was the final protégé of Ansel Adams, studying privately with him and inheriting his rigorous approach to craft, tonal precision, and the gelatin silver printing process. Cook’s work is held in major museum collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, and the J.
