Charming and whimsical, this antique late 19th century lamp features two hand-painted figures labeled "Tennis-Cricket," celebrating classic English leisure sports. Beautifully hand-painted enamel in bright, bold colors. This lamp adds playful charm to any room.
Staffordshire "flatbacks" were a popular form of decorative art in Victorian England. The "flatbacks" were intended to be displayed on mantles or shelves. This one has been converted to a whimsical lamp. Tennis and Cricket became increasingly popular during the late 19th century. Staffordshire potters produced figures depicting these activities.
Great vintage working condition, no chips or cracks.
