Lecaros was a Chilean artist and poet who played a significant role in the mid-20th-century Latin American avant-garde. Best known for her intricate engravings and delicate paintings, her work often explored the intersection of human figures and mystical, dreamlike environments. She was a prominent member of the Taller 99 printmaking collective, where she refined a style characterized by a sensitive use of line and a soft, often muted color palette. Lecaros was a dedicated educator and published several volumes of poetry, reflecting a creative philosophy that sought to capture the ethereal and the subconscious.

Her works have been exhibited in solo and group shows, including a 1959 individual exhibition at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Gráficas in Santiago and in the 1972 Pintura Instintiva Chilena at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Her piece Sleeping Woman (1960) is held in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.[ See less
