Antique Chinese Export Lacquer Wall Pocket / Letter Holder, late 19th–early 20th century.
Black lacquered wood wall pocket decorated with incised and gilt chinoiserie scenes depicting figures in classical garden landscapes with pavilions and bridges. Designed for wall mounting with a pierced hanging hole at the crest. Produced for the Western export market, reflecting the popularity of Chinese decorative arts during the late Qing period.
