We found this antique hand carved teak base with a 6” wooden carved bevel and added a small 5" x 5" mirror where there was once a column. This can be used as a mirror or as a low base to place objects. This antique column base was sourced in the spirit of wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
