The LOUIS XIII Classic decanter has been the ultimate expression of Baccarat's finest eaux-de-vie since 1874, an exquisite blend sourced from Grande Champagne terroir, the first cru of the Cognac region. No two of these decanters are the same. Hand-crafted by skilled artisans from the finest European crystal houses, each decanter is individually numbered and unique. The distinctive design, featuring a 18-carat minimum gold neck and 10 distinctive spikes on each side, is inspired by a 16th-century flask uncovered from the site of the Battle of Jarnac, France, and later owned by LOUIS XIII founder, Paul-Émile Rémy Martin. The decanter, crafted with Baccarat crystal, features distinctive scalloped edges (appearing like spikes) and is adorned with a decorative crystal fleur de lis finial as well as four fleur de lis medallions on each side of its body..
The available Decanter displays the following signs and marks: On the underside the Decanter reads: " E.REMY MARTIN & CIE. COGNAC FRANCE. MADE IN FRANCE BY BACCARAT, with the letters and numerals "BD9758" and the acid-etched hallmark Baccarat circular logo also present. The bottom of the stopper is inscribed in with matching script and number "BD 9758." matching the inscription on the underside of the decanter. The transparent label attached to one of its lower sides reads: PRODUCTION IN FRANCE BY E. REMY MARTIN & C. COGNAC, 750ML, SOLE USA DISTRIBUTOR 40%alc/vol REMY AMERIQUE, INC. NEW YORK, NY
Measurements: length 7 in x width 3.4 in x height 11.3 in.
Surface wear is consistent with age, use & exposure. The stopper is chipped along one edge but the chip does not seem to affect its presence or use of the decanter. (see photos)
According to Leland Little "The Louis XIII decanter is a very pretty bottle, but in true Louis XIII fashion, it is also so much more than that. In Rémy Martin's own words, every Louis XIII decanter is a crystal masterpiece that "requires the perfect synchronization of 11 craftsmen...in a balletic performance." It was at one point made of glass, but now is produced by France's premier crystal-makers like Baccarat and Cristallerie de Sèvres.
Provenance: This bottle was purchased from the estate of a former Los Angeles filmmaker and based on where it was located in his home was most likely consumed in his possession. Research based on its distinctive features, signs and marks indicates that it was crafted between 1999 and 2002.

No visible cracks, chips or flea bites on the decanter. The stopper has two layered chips on one underside but still functions. Please see photos as they are incorporated into this description.
