I have done a new series, inspired by the artist Gerhard Richter. Richter used abstract impressionism - a method that blends Impressionism’s focus on light and movement with abstract forms. It emphasizes expressive colour, loose brushwork, and emotional spontaneity over realistic depiction, creating suggestive compositions that evoke mood rather than represent specific subjects.
Vigorous sweeps of colour collide with blurred edges, creating a charged atmosphere where motion feels suspended between emergence and dissolution. Layered pigments build hypnotic depth, while smeared gestures dissolve boundaries between accident and intention. My goal with this series was to invite viewers to sense the emotion behind the artwork, rather than identify form. Transparency and opacity interact like fleeting thoughts, producing a visceral tension that hovers between chaos, clarity, and contemplative quiet.
