Baccarat manufactory, & design by jacques adnet.
barrel-shaped decanter (for cognac, whisky, etc.) with rounded, curved lines, made of highly hand-blown and tooled translucent crystal, decorated with cold-cut, wide, flat ribs.
the handle is attached and heat-welded; the original stopper is a molded and pressed clear crystal ball. An art deco design and style model.
baccarat manufactory — model created and designed by the architect jacques adnet.
this decanter was originally created for modernist liquor cabinets during the 1930s.
this edition is slightly later (mid-20th century, 1950s-60s).
signed, on the underside of the base of the decanter, with the stamp "baccarat france".
the designer's signature, j. Adnet, is not present, but the model is clearly attributed to him (a simple bibliographic or internet search is sufficient to confirm this).
condition:
- the decanter is in very good overall condition: there are no signs of damage or impact;
- the crystal is perfectly brilliant and transparent;
- the stopper is indeed the original one (corresponding engraved number, "85").
one might note, if necessary, some very minor signs of use, not really wear and tear, but signs of use (which in no way detract from its good condition):
- a very small, minimal chip on the submerged (and therefore not visible) part of the stopper;
- micro-scratches on the underside of the base of the decanter, not visible when the decanter is standing upright, as they are located underneath;
- a very small, thin, circular white halo at the bottom of the decanter, barely visible;
- some interior dust residue, which needs further cleaning (perhaps with bleach or concentrated white vinegar);
- a few fine, inconsequential scratches here and there.
overall, and despite this list which may initially seem long, the decanter remains in very good condition (completely free of chips, damage, dents, or cracks).
a very beautiful and rare piece, of high quality and stylish. This piece has an attribution mark,
i am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity
