This table lamp from the 1930s features a base made of uranium glass, also known as vaseline glass, with a characteristic light green, aquamarine color and an intense fluorescent effect visible under UV light. The tall, slender glass base with a gently flared bottom and a spiral-diamond texture directly references the geometric discipline of the Art Deco style. The glass surface glistens, and the pattern enhances the play of light, emphasizing the decorative details and light, architectural form. The lamp has been re-adapted (most likely in the 1960s/1970s), as evidenced by the visible white power cord and older switch design. The decorative, cylindrical lampshade made of pleated fabric decorated with a pastel floral pattern – with motifs of bouquets, garlands, and ornaments in shades of pink, lilac, and beige – adds a nostalgic touch. The proportions of the lamp create a contrast between the dynamic, tall base and the spreading lampshade. Preserved in very good condition, with a clean, intact glass surface and a neat lampshade, it bears only a natural patina on the period electrical components. This lamp echoes the spirit of interwar Art Deco, seeking harmony between form, light, and material. It speaks of an era that experimented with modernity, combining geometric precision with a fascination with new technologies and materials. The base – perhaps once a tall vase – tells a modest story of chemical magic, in which trace amounts of uranium oxide turn into UV-glowing glass. The lampshade, added decades later, introduces a tone of idyllic memory, as if the lamp had moved from a 1930s living room straight into interiors dreaming of a romantic past. This contrast of materials and patterns allows the collector's narrative to resonate: the light of this lamp is a record of experimentation and decorative play. It can be placed on a low walnut console table, where the geometricity of the base meets the soft, material form of the lampshade. It works well in arrangements combining Art Deco motifs with subtle vintage or romantic eclecticism. It is worth combining it with mirrors in stylized frames, as well as with textiles in pastel or muted colors; an adjacent armchair from the 1950s or collectible trinkets from the early 20th century will emphasize its historical multi-layeredness. After dark, the light from the lamp – even without the use of UV – will break the darkness with a soft glow, creating an intimate, slightly cinematic atmosphere that fits into collector's interiors open to dialogue between eras. It is recommended to use the lamp only with the original lampshade and to take into account that uranium glass remains completely safe in everyday use. The electrical components correspond to those used in the 1960s/1970s; the type of socket should be verified before selecting a bulb. Thanks to the smooth, glazed surface of the base, the lamp is easy to clean with a soft, dry cloth. Due to the decorative nature of the lampshade, it is recommended to avoid direct contact with water and to use a vacuum cleaner with a soft fabric attachment.
