This antique Korean bandaji chest is crafted from solid hardwood, traditionally elm or pine, and fitted with elaborately engraved brass hardware. Bandaji chests were low, front-opening storage cabinets used in Korea for household textiles and valuables, often placed in reception rooms as both functional and decorative furniture.
The wide hinged doors and distinctive winged iron mounts reflect classic Korean woodworking and metalwork traditions. The original brass lock is present, adding to its authenticity and appeal. Based on construction, materials, and hardware style, this piece dates to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1930, and originates from Korea.
