Opening its doors in 1815, the Hôtel Pont-Royal began as a writer’s residence before becoming a quiet fixture of Paris’s Left Bank. It soon drew an extraordinary circle—Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, and Albert Camus. The hotel also introduced one of the first cocktail bars in Paris, a discreet refuge that attracted an international clientele during the years of Prohibition.
