Designed in the 1960s by Richard Schultz for Knoll International to reflect the space age theme of the time. Two of the chairs actually have a date stamp on the inner shell under the upholstery of 3-30-70. This particular set features a thick shell of fiberglass and newer reupholstered fabric with a herringbone pattern in an off white color that is attached to the top of the shell in two sections. They also have the base in the more desirable chrome finish. However, these chairs are stationary, they do not swivel. Originally purposed for use as dining chairs but could be used in a variety of settings and spaces like the kitchen, bedroom, living room and home office/study. Made in the United States by Knoll International. Partial Knoll tag is still present on one of the chairs. This set came from a local well known architect's estate who designed many mid century modern buildings adding to its heritage.

Richard Schultz joined Knoll in 1951 and first started working with Harry Bertoia on the wire chairs. His most famous design was the 1966 Leisure patio and petal collection. But had many other successful designs. See less
