The foreground details include grazing cattle at the water's edge and children playing beneath an ancient, sprawling tree.

This piece is a significant collaboration between two noted 19th-century figures, dating the original print to approximately 1870–1890. The Artist is James S. Fairman, A.M. (1826–1904), a Scottish-born American landscape painter and Colonel in the Civil War. The "A.M." (Artium Magister) reflects his status as a Master of Arts and a respected lecturer. The Engraver is James Duthie; a master of the medium, Duthie was responsible for translating Fairman’s original oil painting onto the plate for printing, ensuring every delicate leaf and reflection was captured for a wider audience.

It has been preserved and was custom framed in October 2023 by Aaron Brothers, featuring their "White Glove Promise" of quality and silk matted under glass. The high-quality presentation ensures the artwork remains the focal point while being protected for years to come. See less
