This early mid-century table lamp features a serene seated Buddha figure, Made in Japan, cast in metal with a warm, naturally aged patina and mounted on a carved wood base. The Buddha is depicted holding a shallow offering bowl, a traditional symbolic form associated with generosity and mindfulness, giving the piece both sculptural presence and quiet meaning.
The lamp retains its original parchment-style paper shade, a notably substantial example with sewn detailing at the top and bottom edges, accented with subtle gold-thread trim. These fine construction details add warmth and refinement and create a soft, ambient glow when illuminated.
The lamp is fitted with its original wiring and operates via a Leviton rotary socket switch, a respected American electrical manufacturer widely used in quality lighting during the 1950s. The lamp powers on and off properly.
Two small holes visible along the side of the base are original to the molding and casting process and were part of the lamp’s manufacture; they are not later damage or alterations.
Both the wood base and the metal Buddha figure are marked Made in Japan, confirming mid-century Japanese export production.

Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and patina consistent with mid-century use. Light surface wear to the metal figure and wood base. Original parchment shade shows minor age-related wear. Two small side holes are original to manufacture. No structural issues noted. The shade looks very good for its approx age of 75 years. There are no dents or damage to the shade which is remarkable however there is one mark that looks like pencil about 2.5 inches long and a couple of light parchment staining that is natural due to age. Please see all photos for more details.
