Built from one … Read more This extended lamp form explores the relationship between line, opening, and light across an expanded vertical field. Built from one and a half standard rectangular casts - a full base with a half-height section "welded" on top - the piece creates distinct lighting zones within a unified composition.

The entire surface is inscribed with a loose, Mondrian-esque grid of black mishima lines that play across the form's height. Punctuating this linear structure are carefully placed openings: linear slots, lozenge shapes, circles, a triangle. These voids are echoed and amplified by brushed white glaze applied in similar but larger shapes, creating a layered conversation between incised line, cut void, and painted surface.

The piece functions as both sculptural presence and atmospheric lighting. The lower two-thirds houses a WiFi-controlled, dimmable, color-tunable G9 bulb that creates mood lighting filtered through the openings. The upper third contains a standard E26 socket and remains open at the top, allowing light to wash the ceiling and walls, transforming the surrounding space.

When lit, the interplay intensifies: black mishima lines define the grid, geometric openings glow with interior light, and white glaze shapes catch and reflect illumination across the surface.
