Large traditional Tonala ceramic sculpture, Mexico.
This Mexican folk art figurine, crafted in the Tonala tradition, depicts a woman, "La Reina," holding a bird. Made of terracotta, it is hand-shaped and hand-painted. It features beautiful, colorful decorations inspired by nature. Tonala ceramics are a true expression of mixed artistic traditions originating from the Tonalteca people of central Mexico.
In excellent condition. Note a very small chip at the tip of the bird's beak.
