The pair of 'Tijuca' leather lounge chairs Attributed … Read more Rare Pair of Tijuca Rosewood Leather Rope Hammock Low lounge chairs Brazil. The pair of 'Tijuca' leather lounge chairs Attributed to Romanian-Brazilian designer Jean Gillon. The chairs are in incredible vintage condition. Brazilian ‘Tijuca’ chairs are Jacarandá wood and designed by Jean Gillon for his company Italma/Wood Art in the late 1960s. Supremely comfortable and effortlessly beautiful this is one of Jean Gillon’s best. These Brazilian chairs were designed in 1969 for Gillon’s company Italma, later renamed Woodart. The frame is crafted of solid Jacarandá-da-Bahia (Brazilian Rosewood) and cushions are supported by a hand tied traditional Brazilian fishing net Hammock support. Each end of the netting is held in place with a simple Jacarandá dowel, adding a pleasant visual interruption to the long wood stretchers. See less
