The suit and sword capture the transitional elegance of medieval warfare, blending early plate protection and elaborate metalsmith tooling.

The suit harness features a distinctive Houndskull Bascinet helmet with elongated, pointed visor (“hound’s hood”) that helped deflect blows.

The Cuirass (or Plankart) breastplate defends the knight’s upper torso while the Fauld protects the lower torso. Gauntlets (hands and wrists), Vambraces & Couters (forearm and elbow guards), Rerebraces & Pauldrons (upper arm and shoulder guards) articulated plating protects the upper extremities. Similarly, the Cuisses (thigh), Poleyn (knee), Greaves (shin) and Sabatons (foot) guards cover the knight’s lower extremities.

Overall, the suit and sword metalwork is decorated with extravagant designs as was customary for nobles during the late Middle Ages. It illustrates the emerging sophistication of English armour craftsmanship of the time.

For display or educational settings only, this armour represents the evolution of English martial design – where form, function, and craftsmanship – met on the medieval battlefield. Included is the hardwood armour stand, consisting of vertical and horizontal elements supporting the various components of the suit of armour for display.
