Rare Antique Art Nouveau Figural Newel Post Lamp by Belgian Sculptor Anton Nelson, Early 20th Century. Anton Nelson (active 1880-1910), is a pseudonym for Antoine Joseph Van Den Kerckhove, born in Brussels, Belgium in 1849. Stunning French wax cast spelter with bronze wash sculpture in the manner of Auguste Moreau. Exquisitely detailed figurine of a young woman holding three beautifully beaded tulip shaped lampshades in amber and green at the end of trailing vines. Titled on the front plaque in French after the original work- ‘Le Gui’, French for ‘Mistletoe’. Artist signed on the back and mounted on a wooden faux marble base. The style is characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement, known for its flowing lines and natural forms. Newel post lights were commonly used to light homes at the bottom of the stairway or along the stair rail to supplement light.
