All original 1940s Swiss Triple Register Manual Wind Chronograph Wristwatch in a detailed Stainless Steel Case.
Legendary and desirable Valjoux 72 movement, signed Concord, produced for the even-more esteemed American clothier Brooks Brothers.
34mm diameter without its crown, with two large push buttons to drive the chronograph functions.
Case has wonderful detailing and curve on the lugs and a stepped bezel. Tight screw back, with a marvelous engraving - DBB , XMAS 1947.
Dial and hands are amazing - entirely original with wonderful gentle patina and still bright details. Signed Brooks Brothers under 12.
Entire piece has been fully serviced and is in very fine working order.
Fitted with a brown suede strap from Hodinkee that has been worn but presents beautifully against the dial.

My husband and I have been collecting wrist watches for over 30 years, and this is in our top five all-time favorites. Two reasons:

Two - Imagine the romance of this gift! Brooks Brothers, like Abercrombie & Fitch, Tiffany and other private label merchants and makers, would often sell goods like this watch under their own label, along side the clothing for which they are so famous. But, to be sure, these items were exceptional - or they did not make the cut at Brooks. So, a proud mother, a wife, a family - school mates - wanted to present a very special person with a truly great watch for Christmas, 1947. Imagine going to Brooks Brothers on Madison Avenue in the snow to choose this...wow.
The combination here makes this a truly rare piece. A watch with a complete pedigree.
