This iconic design of Eero Saarinen happened in 1957 and included its infamous base of aluminum with a marble top, to modernize living and managing space impact in the home. Eero Saarinen was classically trained in sculpture and architecture. The Saarinen table collection is by far, one of his most celebrated designs. Eero Saarinen sought the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution within an overall unity of design. He claims "I wanted to clear up the slum of legs" found on most dining sets. So Saarinen designed the pedestal collection which each object features a simple pedestal made out of heavy molded cast aluminum. This base is strong enough to handle your guests at the table and also the gorgeous Arabescato marble table top. It is in good condition overall with wear that is consistent with usage. Made in Italy.
