Striking Set of eight antique mahogany Hepplewhite centennial dining chairs, consisting of two armchairs and six side chairs. The Shield backs are finely hand carved in neoclassical motifs of foliage, bellflowers and pearl strands. The wood has a rich, warm walnut finish in amber tones, while the seats are upholstered in a steel blue-gray silk cotton blend fabric and the borders are finished with classic brass swag and jabot pattern nailhead trims. Gracefully tapered legs and refined proportions make this set both classically elegant and comfortable.
Provenance: One of the images shows an old paper label of famous NY antique dealer Florian Papp, one of the oldest quality antique dealer families dating back to 1900 and who are still in business today.
