a delightful, hand-sculpted, vitrified majolica ceramic sculpture depicting a seated nude woman with her legs folded and her head tilted back, gazing upward. This unique piece is signed under the base "bacchilega faenza," with an incised signature. It dates back to the early 20th century and was created by aldo bacchilega in the art deco style. The woman's posture is particularly beautiful, her face drawn up dreamily, gazing skyward. Her extremely expressive face, large eyes reminiscent of japanese manga, and a small beauty mark to the side of the girl's tight lips, make this a truly beautiful piece.
useful information for appraising this item:
the sculpture is of high artistic quality, entirely hand-sculpted, a true ceramic sculpture, a truly unique piece of great value. The sculpture closely resembles the artistic work of anselmo bucci and francesco nonni, with whom bacchilega collaborated for several years. Please note that similar sculptures by this artist are extremely rare and highly sought after by collectors. In fact, we have not yet found anything similar listed on any online marketplace. The sculpture is of good size and quite large. See the photo of it compared to a bottle. It is in perfect condition, a rare piece for art lovers and collectors.
information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
a faenza-born molder and printer, aldo bacchilega worked in the 1920s and 1930s at numerous factories in faenza, including "fabbriche riunite di ceramica," faventia ars, the bucci studio, and the melandri-focaccia factory. After the years of crisis and war, in 1945 he was a founding member of the "c.a.c.f." (cooperativa artigiana ceramisti faentini), where he worked until 1952, when the factory closed.
