Item :
a magnificent, hand-sculpted, vitrified majolica terracotta sculpture depicting a bust of queen claudie de france. The bust features an induced craquelure, achieved by heating the sculpture and then immersing it in cold water, giving it a more antique feel. Signed under the base with the name of the subject depicted, "claudie de france," and underneath, "ca," the trademark used by the arcore ceramics factory, founded in faenza by gian battista (nanni) valentini, along with his wife and brother-in-law, in 1967. The bust depicts claude de france (romorantin, october 13, 1499 – blois, july 20, 1524), duchess of brittany suo jure and, from 1515, queen consort of france, eldest daughter of king louis xii of france and anne of brittany. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
