Wonderful pair of majolica tiles, signed on the back by the "AMA Pesaro" factory, depicting two popular subjects, a man … Read more Wonderful pair of majolica tiles, signed on the back by the "AMA Pesaro" factory, depicting two popular subjects, a man and a woman selling fruit. The airbrushed figures are attributed to Elso Sora, one of the factory's founders and leading figures, and date back to 1950 and 1970. This artist was commissioned by Giò Ponti to collaborate with Richard Ginori for several years. The two tiles are of high quality, with a thick, lead-rich glaze and strongly reflect Ponti's style with stylized Art Deco subjects, differing from the common "AMA Pesaro" production. We also have for sale two very similar tiles (see last photo) with a different decoration. One of them features a fish, a decoration by Elso Sora. In fact, we found a vase with the exact same fish, attributed to the same artist. For these reasons, we can easily attribute the authorship of these two tiles to Elso Sora.
