It depicts … Read more Ceramic cast sculpture, made with kaolin, also known as "soft porcelain," glazed, vitrified, and hand-decorated with an airbrush. It depicts a beautiful lady with a hat in her hand, in the Art Nouveau style. It is unsigned, but the catalog number is present. The sculpture dates to the early decades of the 20th century, between 1900 and 1930. The piece is unsigned, but its style and, especially, its coloration suggest the Austrian Amphora factory, whose color is the pale blue. This beautiful lady, with soft, diaphanous tones and a hat over her dress, is very reminiscent of the ladies by Michael Powolny for Wiener Keramik or by Emil Meier for Goldscheider. In fact, below, at the bottom, we have included a sculpture by Powolny and one by Emil Meier, both very similar to ours.

Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
The Amphora factory was founded in 1892 in the town of Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia, by Riessner, Stellmacher, and Kessel. It specializes in the production of figurines and artistic vases. It boasts numerous auction results and is internationally renowned for the quality of its artistic production. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
