Fabulous, spectacular, large glazed terracotta sculpture depicting a child with books, created by the renowned artist and sculptor Otto Petri … Read more Fabulous, spectacular, large glazed terracotta sculpture depicting a child with books, created by the renowned artist and sculptor Otto Petri for the even more famous and important Austrian manufacturer Goldscheider. Signed with the seated woman relief mark, one of the classic marks of Goldscheider terracottas from the late 19th or early 20th century, numbered. Dating to around 1910, it features a quintessential Art Nouveau style. The last photos show the seated woman relief mark taken from a Goldscheider catalog, which lacks a catalog number for this sculpture. Presumably, when they compiled the catalog, they had no reference or documentation for this sculpture, but by going to a similar numbering, they also found a very similar one, a photo of which we have included.

A fabulous sculpture in perfect condition, with no restorations or reglued parts, just a few signs of aging here and there. Please note that some of the marks visible on the face in some photos are not scratches, but rather reflections of light captured by the camera. Just look closely at all the photos and you'll see for yourself. A rare and extremely beautiful piece, especially the child's face, a true masterpiece. This piece has an attribution mark,
