This Royal Dux Bohemia wall figurine from the 1950s, made of shiny porcelain, represents the modernist, so-called Brussels style of post-war Czechoslovakian ceramics. The form combines the simplified silhouettes of a man and a woman – elongated, abstract figures with oval heads and arms and legs tapering downwards. The color background is a cool blue shade, whose smooth, seamless surface reflects light and emphasizes the fluidity of the contours. Geometric accents of navy blue and black highlight the stylized pattern of the clothing, and subtle differences in tone divide the form into volume and detail. The back of the figurine has been flattened, allowing it to be hung on the wall in accordance with the decorative ceramics practice of the era. The monolithic, rhythmically drawn line gives the object a sculptural slenderness, corresponding to the modernist reduction of detail. The object communicates post-war optimism and faith in modernity through its vibrant, harmonious lines and minimalist composition. The shiny surface brings out the play of light, presenting the figure as an encounter between man and abstraction – a moment in which porcelain becomes a vehicle for an artistic vision that is as powerful as it is discreet. Reduced to the bare minimum, the shapes introduce calm and clarity, emphasizing the subtle relationship of the couple inscribed in the language of modern sculpture. It is worth placing the figurine on a light, smooth wall in the living room, bedroom, or hall to allow its sculptural form to gain lightness. It can be combined with other porcelain in shades of white, gray, or navy blue, mid-century graphics, or matte glass and wood accessories—such combinations reinforce its geometric lines. Brass or black metal details create a subtle contrast and a balanced dialogue between materials. This piece has an attribution mark,
