Bronze Statue of a Gladiator, Wounded Gladiator in bronze, an Italian sculpture from the early 1900s in good condition. The figure is inspired by the Hellenistic sculpture depicting the Dying Gaul, the famous marble Dying Gaul from the Capitoline Museums in Rome. This neoclassical-style work is signed Campajola on the edge of the base, Tommaso Campajola 1890–1968, active in Naples, see photo detail. It depicts a defeated warrior, a gladiator with bleeding stab wounds to his leg and chest. Kneeling on the ground, he raises a sword with a broken blade in one hand, while holding a shield depicting the bas-relief of Medusa in the other.
The sandcast statue features a dark green patina; it dates back to the early 1900s and is in perfect condition. Under the base, it bears the label of a Venetian shop. This Italian sculpture finds its raison d'être in what were the proposals for travel souvenirs and collecting of the Grand Tour. This piece has an attribution mark,
