A very fun pair of Model FD 137 "Japan" chairs by Finn Juhl. The Model 137 is a perfect lounge, reading, or accent chair.
The Japan chair's defining feature is its back, reminiscent of a torii gate and visible from all angles. The frames are built from solid teak – deep, earthy red in tone with streaks of black throughout.
The seats and backs have been reupholstered in a white leather from Aeristo with a textured red leather accent. The frames have been fully refinished and sealed in a durable satin lacquer. The original brass fittings have been polished to show their original sheen.
One chair in the pair was produced by France & Daverkosen in Denmark in the late 1950s, while the other was produced by its successor France & Son in the early 1960s. Both chairs retain their original placards.
