This vintage Japanese lacquerware box dates to the early-to-mid 20th century and features finely executed maki-e decoration depicting a crane in flight above stylized pine trees. Rendered in gold on a glossy black lacquer ground, the imagery reflects traditional Japanese symbolism, with the crane representing longevity and good fortune.
