Pair of French Antique Louis Philippe Dining Chairs, Solid Nut Wood, 19th Century
This refined pair of French antique dining chairs dates to the Louis Philippe period, mid-19th century, and showcases the timeless elegance and craftsmanship associated with authentic French antique furniture.
Crafted from solid nutwood, these Louis Philippe style chairs feature beautifully hand-carved crest rails with classical foliate decoration and a central oval medallion—an iconic design element of the period. The gently curved backs provide excellent comfort and visual balance, while the turned front legs highlight traditional French cabinetmaking techniques.
Recently reupholstered with great attention to detail.
Upholstered in floral and wreath motifs in soft green, cream, and muted rose tones that complements the deep warmth of aged Walnut wood.
Seat and backrest are generously padded for comfort and finished with antique brass nailhead trim, which reinforces the upholstery while enhancing historic character.
The chairs retain their original-style upholstered seats. The upholstery is clean, well-padded, and suitable for immediate use.
The wood displays a rich, warm patina, developed naturally over time, with visible grain and subtle variations that attest to the chairs’ authenticity and age. Both chairs are structurally sound and presented in very good antique condition, showing light wear consistent with nearly two centuries of history.
Ideal as French antique dining chairs, accent chairs, or statement seating for a classic dining room, elegant living space, boutique hotel, or period interior, this pair offers a rare combination of comfort, authenticity, and understated luxury.
