a beautifully balanced pair of mid-20th-century dutch delft (delftware) table lamps made from hand-painted ceramic by koninklijke (royal) tichelaar makkum. The bases feature a vivid polychrome delft palette—cobalt blue, brick red, and green—arranged in stylized florals and symmetrical scrolling motifs that read classic, collected, and lively.

the silhouettes are elegant and architectural: gently flared, faceted bodies that taper upward to a crisp collar, giving the pair strong vertical presence on bedside tables, living-room consoles, or a study credenza. In person, they land right in that sweet spot between traditional european craft and statement-maker color.

custom shades & finish
to complement the historic ceramic patterning, we paired the bases with new custom olive green velvet drum shades. The deep olive velvet adds a warm, sophisticated counterpoint (and a slightly modern edge), creating a luxe look both lit and unlit. The set is finished with new brass hardware and coordinating fabric wrapped cords for a polished, cohesive presentation.

the undersides are marked with the hand-painted makkum shield and model number 495, along with a painter’s initial—consistent with c. 1950s–1970s royal tichelaar makkum production.

condition
vintage ceramic bases with the character you’d expect from age and handcraft. Please review photos closely for surface variation and any signs of wear consistent with vintage delft pottery. Shades, fittings, and wiring are new.
